POVEGLIA ISLAND

Poveglia Island is one of many island in the lagoons of Venice, Italy but instead of being a place of beauty, the island is considered as one of the most haunted locations on the planet and also one of the most evil places in the world. Today no one visits save to harvest the vineyards. Fishermen even steer clear of the island for fear that they will catch human bones in their nets.

Recently an Italian businessman Luigi Brugnaro won the auction with a bid of €513,000 (roughly $704,000), which allows him to lease the island for 99 years. The questions surrounds him, why he has taken this, the mystery still remains, as he refuses to answer any of the queries.

The dark history of Poveglia Island began during the Roman Era when it was used to isolate plague victims from the general population. Centuries later, when the Black Death rolled through Europe it served that purpose again. The dead were dumped into large pits and buried or burned. As the plague tightened its grip, the population began to panic and those residents showing the slightest sign of sickness were taken from their homes and to the island of Poveglia kicking and screaming and pleading. They were thrown onto piles of rotting corpses and set ablaze. Men, women, children… all left to die in agony. It’s estimated that the tiny island saw as many as 160,000 bodies during this time.

Others claim the underground facility has up to 40 levels and that it is attached via underground railways to other sites in Los Alamos, White Sands and Los Angeles.

Conspiracy theorists believe that the remains of crashed UFO spacecrafts are stored at Area 51, an Air Force base about 150 miles from Las Vegas, where government scientists reverse-engineer the aliens’ highly advanced technology. Fodder for this has come from a variety of supposed UFO sightings in the area and testimony from a retired Army colonel who says he was given access to extraterrestrial materials gathered from an alien spacecraft that crashed in Roswell, N.M. Some believe that the government studies time travel at Area 51, also known as Groom Lake or Dreamland.

Situated off the coast of India in the Bay of Bengal, a Manhattan-size island called North Sentinel Island is situated. Humans who still lives here are untouched from technology and outer world, they are more like advanced Apes, who’s language and behavior is still unknown. They attack everyone and kill them, who so ever visit this island.

People living here are commonly known as Sentineless.

North Sentinel Island, a part of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal Ocean between Myanmar and Indonesia, is home to one such tribe. The Sentinelese people are so hostile to external contact that the island has been dubbed the ‘hardest place to visit’ in the world.

After a night of drinking in 2006, two fishermen drifted too close to the island and were killed by the Sentinel’s  who’ve lived there for 60,000 years. A helicopter sent to recover their bodies was halted by tribesman’s arrows, the Telegraph reported at the time; the air generated by the copter’s rotors revealed their bodies in shallow graves. One of the earliest known encounters a century earlier ended when a convict who’d escaped from the neighboring Andaman Islands ended up on the island with his throat slit, the New York Times reported in 2012.

Several ships have been attacked by Sentinelese people, including a ship called the Nineveh, which was stranded near the island in 1868 and the cargo ship Primrose, whose crew members narrowly escaped after being stranded in 1981.

The native people are susceptible to disease, the wrath of modern society and fear extinction. The Indian government has taken steps to ensure the continued preservation of their culture.

Approx 4000 species are being estimated to live here, in an area of 110 acre island. The snakes are so poisonous that even a single drop of it can actually melt human flesh. In last 15 years the population of snakes is found to be decreasing due to combination of vegetation removal and disease. And hence it is on the International Union for Conservation of Nature’s Red List the snakes are currently listed as critically endangered.

Well the list is more, there are many places to be added to the list, but these places comes on the top of the list.
